Courtney & Devin | The Cheney Place Wedding | Grand Rapids, Michigan
I have so much to say about Courtney and Devin’s wedding! I was driving from up north to Grand Rapids the morning of their wedding and as I started stopping for gas and breakfast along the way I started noticing that power was out everywhere…. as I got closer to the city I started to get texts from friends about power being out in the entire city. I was praying our wedding venue would have power, but I arrived to the Cheney Place and found out they had also lost power and were on generators. Being the middle of summer, it was hot and humid and temperatures inside the warehouse quickly elevated and hovered in the 90’s. No air conditioner. Sparse lighting. For almost any bride, this would be worthy of 10 out of 10 panic… but not Courtney! In fact, the entire bridal party was in great spirits and just went with the flow. It was incredible, and a true testament that Courtney and Devin were the most concerned with their marriage and ceremony happening and not all the other details. Severe storms rolled through all day, and even caught the bridal party outdoors during their portrait time. All we could do was laugh, it was such a crazy day! But at the end of it all, they were married and that is really all that mattered. Somehow, Courtney still looked AMAZING after being in the hottest building and getting rained on! I was totally impressed with how everyone handled a less than ideal, but awfully memorable wedding day! I know that their marriage is going to be full crazy adventure and they will handle it the same way they handled their big day— with a smile on their face and their families to support them! I loved being able to be a part of their day and hope you enjoy some of my favorites!
