Nancy & Andrew | McKay Tower Fine Art Film Wedding

If you want to see the most dripping in elegance wedding dress on the most beautiful bride, you've come to the right place today. Nancy and Andrew were married a few weeks ago in Grand Rapids, Michigan and despite the rain (we are talking torrential-downpour-we-got-stuck-with-two-other-wedding-parties-at-city-hall-for-30-minutes kind of rain) it was such a beautiful day. With amazing talent on board (Posh Petals, Chic and Pretty Events and Coastline Videography just to name a few) I wasn't at all surprised. From the small details to the large ones, this wedding is so uniquely classic. Nancy has a love for vintage couture and I think you'll see that translated here. We were rewarded with a peek of sun in the afternoon for post-ceremony portraits before heading into the decadent art-deco reception. Massive banana leaves made this reception decor a total stand-out. Of course, the pretty was well, pretty but more importantly two wonderful people dedicated their lives to loving one another in front of their closest friends and family and that was truly the sweetest part of the entire day. Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Zawisza! Enjoy some of my favorites below! Complete list of vendors below.

Patrizia & Jake | Baker Lofts Fine Art Film Wedding

Sweet Patrizia (or Mucki (moo-key) as her friends and family lovingly call her) and Jake had the most perfect Michigan weather wedding day, ever. I absolutely loved being outside in Holland soaking up a breezy day and OH the greens-- the delicious, delicious end of summer greens! This bridal party was tons of fun, and even though I got stung by a bee on the face I didn't even care because I had so much fun. I got to work with vendor friends, Mattie of Spark & Wildflower (whose very own wedding I kicked my 2016 wedding season off with) and Alyse from Every Little Detail who has attended one of my Bloom Workshops in the past!

Before I share more, let me back up. I was so thrilled with Mucki booked me for her big day because she is more beautiful inside than she is out. The handful of times we got to hang out I felt like I was with an old friend and Jake is just the type of guy that makes YOU feel comfortable (seriously he was asking me if I needed anything on HIS wedding day!) One of my favorite things about this wedding was the nod to M's grandparents and German heritage. At their reception they participated in a German folklore wedding tradition and toasted glasses, the Nuernberg Bridal Cup. If you've never heard of it, you should look it up. It was incredible sweet (and funny!) and it is the personal touches like this that make every wedding so unique and special.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your insanely gorgeous wedding day, Sobania's! Congratulations! Enjoy a few of my very favorite photos of their day!

Maryal & Chris | Walloon Lake Country Club Wedding

I had been anticipating Maryal and Chris's wedding for months and months. When you have a bride with such impeccable style and a team of incredible talent like Sarah for Sincerely Ginger Weddings, Simply Sweet by Jessica and Bloom Floral (just to name a few) it is easy to understand my excitement. With beautiful northern Michigan lakes as our backdrop I was already imagining the sun soaked images I would create for them. When I got a glimpse of the french blue, red, gold and blush pink palette I was over the moon.

And then, the weather report came in.

We all woke up to ominous skies threatening rain-- we photographed the crew getting ready and Maryal and Chris seeing each other for the first time on the docks of Hotel Walloon and then the skies opened up. It didn't just rain, it poured and poured...and poured even more. Tornadoes and flooding were reported around the area and it got darker and grayer by the minute. But as the day unfolded I kept commenting that it couldn't be anymore romantic or perfect if it tried.

Despite the not so ideal weather, magic unfolded. The team of vendors tweaked and changed plans and the excitement and joy vibrated, it buzzed just below everything that was happening and you couldn't help but get swept right up into it. If you could be there you would have felt so much true joy and heard an awful lot of laughter.

Looking back now I wouldn't change a single thing, and this rainy wedding will go down in the books as one of my all time favorites...Because after the beautiful dishes were returned and the lights went out at Walloon Lake Country Club, the (pretty incredible) love between this bride and groom was such a force that I can still feel it when I look through these images.

And that friends? That is absolutely what it is all about and the reason that I love this job that I do so very much. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Carter! Now here are some (read: a lot) of my favorites from their day! Full list of artists at the bottom.
